The Philadelphia College of Pharmacy at the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia invites applications for a non-tenure track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences (DPS), to begin on or about January 1, 2018. The candidate is expected to participate in a newly redesigned competency-driven integrated professional pharmacy (Pharm.D.) curriculum using innovative teaching approaches and also contribute to teaching in the undergraduate and graduate programs (M.S. and Ph.D.). In addition, opportunities to mentor undergraduate research in the department are available.

DPS is comprised of 16 faculty members who teach and carry out research in the Pharm D as well as the BS Pharmacology/Toxicology and Pharmaceutical Sciences programs. The department has newly renovated teaching lab space and a fully equipped manufacturing/industrial pharmacy lab that are used for teaching and academic/contract research. We have a state of the art AAALAC-accredited vivarium, cell culture facilities, and a wide array of analytical instruments including HPLCs, electrophysiology, Surface Plasmon Resonance, flow cytometer, absorbance and fluorescent plate readers, ultracentrifuge, RT-PCR, image analyzers, fluorescence microscope, mass spectrometer, and a scanning electron microscope. Access to NMR and computational facilities are available through the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry.

Required Qualification Summary

The candidate must have a Ph.D. degree in an area relevant to pharmacology and/or toxicology.

The finalist will be required to successfully pass a background check.

Preferred Qualification Summary

Prior teaching experience in cardiovascular pharmacology and/or medicinal chemistry is preferred.
